Norsk Energi conducts energy audit of DNB Sweden
This spring, Norsk Energi conducted an energy audit of DNBs Sweden branch. DNB Sweden are thereby fulfilling their obligation according to the EU Energy Efficiency directive.
Sweden, like most EU countries, has implemented the EU Energy Efficiency directive. It obliges large companies, with an annual turnover over €50M or more than 250 employees, to do an energy audit of their company. The directive, as it is implemented in Sweden, requires that a certifies energy auditor conducts the audit. As the only company in Norway, Norsk Energi has two energy advisors certified for this by the Swedish authorities.
DNB Sweden’s main office is situated in the very modern and technologically advanced Regeringsgatan 59, in central Stockholm. Among other things, PV cells have recently been installed at the roof of the building, covering parts of the building’s energy needs.
By carefully auditing the enterprise’s energy consumption, as well as physically visiting and examining the head quarter in Stockholm, Norsk Energi helped DNB uncover its potential for energy savings. The goal of the audit is to get an overview of the company’s energy consumption and suggest profitable energy saving measures: The payback time should be short, and in line with the company’s general policy on rates of return on investments. The measures can include anything from construction works to process optimization and transport issues – what’s important is the company’s overall energy use. Through Norsk Energi’s audit, DNB fulfilled the requirements set out in EU’s energy efficiency directive, and got suggestions for improving their energy efficiency. Norsk Energi uses the standards in EN-NS 16247 as a reference for these audits.
