Karen Almas has a degree in Master of Science (MSc) from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU (2012). Her education is in the field of energy and environmental engineering, with energy and process technology as specialization. Her education includes one year abroad (2010-2011) at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon. Her master thesis was in corporation with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and concerned an analysis of water consumption in different CO2 capture technologies. After finishing her education, Almas began to work as consultant at the industry department in Norsk Energi in 2012.
In Norsk Energi, Almas has been working with different projects, many of them regarding heat recovery and energy optimization in energy intensive industry (melting plants, chemical industry, wood processing etc). She has god knowledge about different types of steam boilers and steam/condensate distribution systems, including operation, maintenance and regulations. Her experience comes from all project phases such as feasibility studies, pre-engineering, detail engineering and supervision during construction. Almas also has project management experience.
