To further increase the use of district heating in Oslo, Hafslund Fjernvarme is building a new transmission line between their waste incineration plant in Klemetsrud and heating plant in central Oslo

Wood chips and waste from the local timber mills constitute the main energy source in Stryn Energy’s new biomass facility. In addition, a natural gas boiler has been installed for peak load generation.

Coordination responsibilities include detailed design, procurement and construction. The majority of the district heating sub-stations will be installed in old office or apartment buildings, where they will replace electric and oil fired boilers.

The heating plant contributes to the increased energy production from renewable energy sources through using pre-heated water from Norway’s largest heat-pump installation; Skøyen heating plant, which uses heat from the sewerage system in Oslo.
